Our passion for poetry guides us to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in the infinite possibilities of the written word. We conduct workshops, contests, outreach programs and readings to promote poetry in the community.
The word is OUT! Observable Readings has asked the Poetry Center to oversee its 2008-2009 season. (CLICK ON THE OBSERVABLE LOGO, OR THIS LINK, TO OPEN THE 2008-2009 SCHEDULE!!!!) Master-mind Aaron Belz has relocated to the westcoast and will be missed, though present in spirit to say the least.
The St. Louis Poetry Center, in collaboration with Chesterfield Writers Guild, will present an introductory workshop for oral poetry readings/presentations with theatre director and poetry lover, Bill Grivna.
This fall the Poetry Center will host a fee workshop with poet and editor, Joshua Kryah. This workshop will cover the topic of publishing, and will be the continuation of the material he was not able to cover in his spring workshop. Attendance at the spring workshop is not a prerequisite for this workshop. The venue for this workshop will accommodate about 40 participants. Please email info@stlouispoetrycenter.org to reserve your spot.
We are growing, and we are thrilled. With the addition of the Observable Readings series we now have TWO readings a month, featuring as many as ten poets between the two venues! Poetry at the Point will continue at the Focal Point featuring a variety of local poets, while Observable Readings treats us to a broad selection of Midwestern and occasionally coastal poets, many with books published.
